RoyalSlider is a WordPress plugin for image galleries and HTML-content slideshows with touch navigation. Before you download RoyalSlider, check its current maintenance information, the correct WordPress package and the embedding requirements for your site.
RoyalSlider features and current listing
Originally developed by Dmitry Semenov, RoyalSlider is currently listed on CodeCanyon under GalleryForge. The official WordPress plugin listing describes image and HTML slides, YouTube and Vimeo video, post-based sliders, thumbnails, fullscreen display and lazy loading. Products can be sourced as a post type; this is not a separate ecommerce platform.

When checked on 7 November 2026, the marketplace showed a $24 Regular License, future updates and six months of support. Tax and handling fees are excluded. Its listed last update was 28 February 2024, and its compatibility attributes extended through WordPress 6.4.x. Those details do not establish compatibility with every newer WordPress or PHP release.
Maintenance and removed integrations
The developer’s WordPress changelog lists version 3.4.3, dated 27 February 2024, with a potential XSS fix and WordPress editor-related changes. Confirm the version you receive and test it on staging with your actual theme, WordPress version and PHP version.
The same changelog says 500px and Instagram support was removed in version 3.3.7 because their APIs were deprecated. Older tutorials remain online, so do not treat their presence as evidence that those integrations still work. Check any external feed before building a site around it.
RoyalSlider vs. Smart Slider 3 Free
Smart Slider 3 Free includes a visual slide editor, responsive controls, touch navigation, image and text layers, YouTube/Vimeo layers and a WordPress-post source. Free sliders are therefore not limited to static images or necessarily worse on mobile.
| Consideration | RoyalSlider | Smart Slider 3 Free |
|---|---|---|
| Editing approach | Gallery and content-slider controls with developer customization options. | Visual layer editor with rows and columns. |
| Content | Images, HTML, videos and post-type content. | Images, text, buttons, video layers and WordPress posts. |
| Evaluation | Review the demo, release history and purchase terms. | Install the official free plugin to evaluate its available features. |
Choose by building the same small slideshow with the same images. Compare editing effort, keyboard navigation, mobile layout and loading behavior. We do not have a current controlled benchmark demonstrating a speed winner.
Where to download RoyalSlider
Use the official marketplace for the developer’s current purchase terms. RoyalSlider also has a separate HTML/jQuery edition; choose the WordPress plugin when you need WordPress administration and embedding.
View RoyalSlider on PureGPL to check the available version, package contents and reseller update/support arrangements. Reseller file access does not by itself establish entitlement to a marketplace purchase code or direct developer services.
Install the correct WordPress ZIP
- Back up the site and test on staging first.
- Follow the official installation guide. The installable file is
new-royalslider.zip. If you downloaded a full package, extract it and locate that inner ZIP. - In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, select the installable file and activate it after installation.
- Create a slider in the RoyalSlider administration screen. Start with a few appropriately sized images, meaningful captions and simple navigation.
- Save the slider and copy its generated shortcode. The documented shortcode format is
[new_royalslider id="1"]; replace the example ID with your slider’s ID. - Add it using a Shortcode block or a builder element that processes WordPress shortcodes, then inspect the published page.
For manual updates, use the developer’s changelog instructions and keep a backup. Its update guide warns that deleting the plugin through the admin area removes plugin data; deactivation alone does not.
When the slider works in preview but not on the page
The asset-loading documentation explains that automatic loading detects the shortcode in the post content. A slider embedded through a widget, custom field or a different integration may need explicit CSS and JavaScript loading.
RoyalSlider → Settings includes preload options for the home page or every page. Choose an option appropriate to where the slider appears; developers can load assets conditionally. Sliders marked inactive do not load their styles. Retest the public page after changing the configuration.
Performance and accessibility checks
Lazy loading is a feature, not a guarantee that a slideshow will be fast or indexed. Keep images appropriately sized, use a small number of slides and check the page on a mobile connection. Compare results before and after adding the slider.
Check keyboard access, visible controls, readable captions and useful image alternatives. Essential information should remain easy to find without waiting for an automatic slide rotation. A product’s accessibility claims do not replace checking your finished page.
Frequently asked questions
Can RoyalSlider display products?
The marketplace describes post-type content, including WooCommerce products. Check the available source filters against your exact catalog requirements before committing.
Will the shortcode work in every page builder?
Use a component that processes shortcodes and verify asset loading. Simply placing shortcode text inside any HTML field does not guarantee a working slider.
Should I choose RoyalSlider over a free slider?
Evaluate the editor and gallery controls you need, compatibility and maintenance. Smart Slider 3 Free offers substantial functionality, so a premium price alone is not evidence of better speed or usability.
